Today, Sunday, December 28th, 2014 was the Feast of the Holy Innocents, which is the Titular Feast of the Church of the Holy Innocents (NYC). It was also the first time that Fr. Leonard Villa, new Administrator of the Church of the Holy Innocents, celebrated the 10:30am (traditional) Mass.
As can be seen in these photos, the Altar was solemnly and beautifully decorated (beautiful flowers, Relics on the High Altar, red drapes, magnificent Vestments, spectacular Palestrina music, etc.). We can also joyfully point out that there were 320 people in attendance at this Mass, and many of these stayed for the wonderful Coffee Hour (there was a lot of food!) in order to formally meet Fr. Villa.
The sermon, as many mentioned after the Mass, was fantastic! Fr. Villa's "battle plan" (daily Rosary, reverence and adoration to the Eucharist, prayers for Priests, devotion to the Sacred Heart and to the Immaculate Heart, Confession, reparation to God, etc.) for the Parish of the Holy Innocents is what every church needs and Holy Innocents will certainly continue to be an active, vibrant community of faith in this regard.
